Video: Why do you vote LibDem?

Tag: VideosPersephone Arbour @ 9:07 pm

As you probably realise by now, I feel quite passionately about this. However, many of you think my site should be devoted to so-called ‘spiritual’ matters. My response would be – what’s the difference? If, in the moment, the beliefs and ideas of someone touch your heart and speak truth to you – surely that’s just ‘what is happening’! Well, right now this is happening to me – so I share. For the first time in my life (other than Obama’s victory) I am excited about the possibilities of change – this time in my own country!

I see no evidence on your website that many of your readers wish you to focus more on the spiritual aspect of life. For my money, everything that expresses life in any shape or form, is spiritual. We still tend to forget what has been said over and over again. Osho said it best “God is everywhere, even in the back of my Rolls Royce!” I love your rainbow look at life, and as for your passions, I for one support them whole heartedly.

The evidence you speak of dear James has come in the form of letters, and reading the copious stats that I now have access to. Neither of which you would have seen. However, I thank you so much for your staunch support – don’t they say ‘great minds think alike?’

Life has got even more exciting since last night’s television debate between the leaders of the three main parties. What was even more wonderful was that, in the news stats coming out today, Nick Clegg – the Liberal Democratic party leader – came out on top! Yeah . . . . . .

I find it a shame that the people who write letters to you, are not willing to set them in the comment box. I also write Emails to you, not one of which, would I refuse you the right to post. I think the possibility of offering one’s opinion on any subject, on a website such as yours, is without doubt a great opportunity. It is great to become involved with view points other than your own. For me, a healthy debate is a way to stretch my learning boundaries. Politics have never been a subject that I know a great deal about. But the freedom to follow your dream, your hope and your passion, is a freedom I will support without reserve.

I feel the same way, even about your thoughts on politics. This is a new energy in my life, without doubt. I have set up this site for exactly this sort of interaction. Let’s just hope that more read these comments (on all the posts) – and act on them!

Strange that all this seems to so long ago now, and in a different world – and how things have changed (student fees), principles ignored (Trident), definitions elided (e.g. the word ‘progressive’), bankers set free to rob again. If I have voted Liberal Democrat (‘Con-Dems) I would be feeling so ashamed right now. “I changed my mind” he said!!!

Reluctantly I have to partly agree with you. However, when I voted Lib Dem, I did so with no high hopes, but with a deep wish for some good people to get a voice. They did. The fact that their voices are muted and not necessarily saying what we might have wished is, to me, irrelevant. The principles that I voted for still stand. My hope is that at some point there will be an opening for those quiet and good voices to slowly and tenaciously begin to have an effect. For the Lib Dems to fight their coalition partners now would be political suicide. Let’s give them a chance – it is very early on. Do you really want a Conservative government solely in charge?

    I think not.
