Help for dementia carers
This morning, broadcaster John Suchet sat on the sofa of the BBC Breakfast programme and moved me to tears. Very passionately and poignantly he talked about his beloved wife disappearing into dementia, and the sanity-saving help and care he, in his role as carer, is receiving from the Admiral Nursing Response.
The most shocking revelation was that currently, there are only 60 trained Admiral Nurses in the whole country to serve thousands and thousands of carers trying to cope with the fall-out of this tragic disease.
On this website I would like to encourage you all to log in to http://www.fordementia.org.uk and read for yourself how important the training and provision of these nurses is, and how you can help. Maybe this small message can reach out and create a ripple that could merge with other ripples to raise public awarenss of this urgently needed service.
