Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill, and The Monk and the Philsopher: A Father and Son Discuss the Meaning of Life, by Matthieu Ricard.

Normally I am pretty bored by what I call ‘Spiritual How to Books’. However, Ricard’s writing comes from an unusually sincere, gentle, un-pressured stance. Nowhere did I feel preached at, falsely encouraged or manipulated. His conversations with his father about the meaning of life, the same. The quietness and simplicity of his Bhuddist life is patently apparent. These are both thoughtful and intelligent books.
