Video: Bill Moyers interviews Greg Mortenson
You will probably have to watch an interview with someone else before getting to the Greg Mortenson piece. Please persevere. Mortenson is the author of the books, Three Cups of Tea and Stones into Schools. This is about his time in Afghanistan, living with Afghanis in their villages. He helped them build schools for girls. This close, on-the-ground contact with the Afghanis gave him brilliant insights into their relationship with the Taliban. These insights have reached Washington. This is a truly good, selfless man who might, just might be able to help those in power in the West learn new ways of approaching the war in Afghanistan – to find peace for all.

Persephone, I just wanted to say thank you for that amazing video connection. It was so nice to be moved and touched by a watching a man so aligned with his goals, (enlightened even) who continues seeing through optimistic eyes and uses action along with his words (both oral and written) to make a positive difference.
The pessimistic interviewer was most definitely over shadowed by the amazing generosity, spirit and energy of the interviewee.

Obviously, as seen in my new post today, I do not agree that the interviewer was either pessimistic, or overshadowed. He was doing his best, as he always does, to sit back, ask the difficult questions and give the interviewee the space and time to share with us.
